Article: Why Your Hair Falls Flat

Why Your Hair Falls Flat
Flat hair is frustrating because it usually starts well. You style it, it looks great and then an hour later it’s flat! No shape, no volume and your hair is sitting much closer to your head than you wanted.
Fixing flat hair is not that complicated though. Most of the time, it comes down to washing, product choice, drying technique or using too much of the wrong thing.
Here are the common reasons your hair falls flat and how you can fix it.
Your Hair Is Too Heavy With Product
If your hair falls flat quickly, start by looking at how much product you are using.
Too much styling product can weigh your hair down, especially if your hair is fine, soft or naturally quite smooth. Heavy waxes, pomades or overly rich creams can make the hair look styled at first, but they can also drag it down as the day goes on.
This isn’t just a risk with styling products though. Conditioners, oils other other hair care products can build up and creating volume, texture and shape can be difficult if they are not rinsed out properly.
Top tip: use less product than you think you need. Start with a small amount, warm it up properly in your hands, then apply it evenly.
Anforh Styling Cream gives your hair control, texture and natural movement to all hair types and lengths. It is water-based, so it feels lighter and more workable than heavier waxes or pomades but contains natural ingredients such as Pea Peptide for a boost of volume and thickness.
Use a small amount in damp hair as a pre-styler before blow-drying, or apply it to dry hair when you want more shape and workable texture.
You can always add more, but once your hair is overloaded, it is hard to recover without washing it out and starting again.
The aim is control without weight. Shape without your hair looking like it has been coated.
Your Hair Is Too Clean
This sounds wrong, but freshly washed hair can sometimes be too soft to hold shape.
If your hair feels squeaky clean, overly soft or slippery after washing, it may struggle to hold volume. Freshly washed hair can lack the grip and texture needed for a fuller style, especially if your hair is fine or naturally smooth.
That does not mean dirty hair is the answer - the trick is balance.
Anforh Texture Shampoo is the solution. We have designed it to clean your scalp and remove product build-up without leaving your hair feeling stripped or lifeless. It will add body and movement to your hair leaving it feeling clean but with enough texture and grip to style.
Clean hair should still have enough life in it to be styled.

You Are Not Drying It Properly
If you want volume, you need to create shape while your hair is drying.
After washing, gently towel-dry your hair so it is damp but not soaking. Then use a hairdryer to lift the hair at the roots and guide it into place. If you want more volume, use Anforh Texture Volume Spray and then dry your hair against its natural direction but finish it how you want it to sit.
Letting your hair air-dry while it is sitting flat will usually make it dry flat. That does not mean you need to blast it for ages, just long enough to set the shape before the hair dries on its own.
For a lot of men, this is the missing step. Products help but drying will set the foundation. If you build the shape while the hair is damp, your style has a much better chance of lasting.
You Are Using The Wrong Product For Your Hair Type
If your hair keeps falling flat, your styling product may be working against you. Fine hair usually needs lightweight texture as a heavy product can make it collapse. A product without enough hold on thick hair may not offer any sense of support at all.
If your goal is volume, texture and movement, avoid anything too oily, shiny or heavy. Anforh Texture Volume Spray provides lift, body and texture without weighing your hair down. Use it on towel-dried hair before blow-drying if you want more volume at the root and a fuller finish.
If your hair needs more shape or control, finish with a small amount of Anforh Styling Cream. It gives flexible hold and natural movement without the sticky or stiff finish that can make hair look overloaded.
For wavy or curly hair, Anforh Curl Enhancing Cream is the better fit as it adds definition and shape to your hair without crunch, grease or heaviness.
Your Haircut Is Working Against You
Sometimes the problem is not your hair styling routine but your haircut.
If your hair is too long in the wrong places, too heavy through the top or cut without enough shape, it may naturally collapse. Ask your barber or a stylist for a cut that works with your hair type and the way you actually style it.
A haircut that looks good in the chair but only works with 20 minutes of styling may be too high maintenance for every day so make sure you are getting a cut that will still work as it grows.
Flat hair usually comes from one of three things: too much weight, not enough texture or no foundation.
The fix is not always more product. In fact, that can make it worse.
Start with the basics. Wash your hair properly. Dry it into shape. Use less product. Choose something that works for your hair type. And get a cut that gives your hair a chance.
You want your hair to have shape, lift and movement.
Not stiffness. Not grease. Not a style that disappears before you have left the house.
